A DGRM - Direcção-Geral dos Recursos Naturais, Segurança e Serviços Marítimos, iniciou a 9 de Setembro, uma missão com um navio da Marinha Portuguesa, NRP SETÚBAL, com uma equipa de inspecção de pescas composta por quatro Inspectores de Pescas da União (DGRM), um coordenador da EFCA, um da ANP/Estónia e dois da ANP/Portugal.

The DGRM - Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Security, and Maritime Services, started on September 9, a mission with a Portuguese Navy ship, NRP SETÚBAL, with a fisheries inspection team made up of four Union Fisheries Inspectors (DGRM), an EFCA coordinator, one from ANP/Estonia and two from ANP/Portugal.

Portugal, através da DGRM, no exercício das competências de Autoridade Nacional de Pesca (ANP), assumiu o compromisso de realizar missões de vigilância e inspecção no mar, no âmbito dos Programas de Acção Conjunta (JDP), coordenados pela EFCA (Agência Europeia de Controlo das Pescas).

Portugal, through the DGRM, in the exercise of the mandate as the National Fisheries Authority (ANP), committed carrying out surveillance and inspection missions at sea, within the scope of the Joint Deployment Programmes (JDPs) coordinated by the EFCA (European Fisheries Control Agency).

Estas missões contribuem para a dimensão externa da União Europeia e da Política Comum das Pescas, em águas da União sob soberania e jurisdição de Portugal e águas geridas por Organizações Regionais de Gestão das Pescas (ORGP), especificamente da ICCAT (Comissão Internacional para a Conservação dos Tunídeos do Atlântico), NAFO (Organização das Pescarias do Noroeste do Atlântico) e NEAFC (Comissão de Pescas do Atlântico Nordeste).

These activities support the external dimension of the European Union and the Common Fisheries Policy, in Union waters under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of Portugal and in waters of managed by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs), specifically of the ICCAT (International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas), NAFO (Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation) and NEAFC (North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission).

A União Europeia tem a responsabilidade de execução das missões de vigilância e inspecção dos navios que exercem atividades e operações de pesca nas Áreas referidas. Os navios-patrulha da EFCA são plataformas de inspeção no âmbito dos JDP, em articulação com os Estados‑Membros.

The European Union has responsibility over the surveillance and inspection missions of vessels that are carrying out fishing activities and operations in the aforementioned Areas. EFCA patrol vessels are inspection platforms within the scope of the JDPs and, in consultation with Member States.

O NRP SETÚBAL entrou na Área de Regulamentação da NAFO a 16 de Setembro e terminará a missão em Lisboa, a 12 de Outubro.

The NRP SETÚBAL entered the NAFO Regulatory Area on 16 September and will finish the mission in Lisbon on 12 October.
